Job summary

As our Clinical Coder you will:

  1. Provide a Clinical Coding service for all Nuffield Health hospitals
  2. Accurately assign ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes to hospital episodes covering NHS and privately funded activity
  3. Code activity from a wide range of clinical specialties
  4. Provide coding expertise as required by the business
  5. Respond professionally to queries from hospitals and consultant surgeons
  6. Escalate any issues to the Specialist Lead or Clinical Coding Manager, when appropriate

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Coders to join our experienced team on a hybrid working basis. Working across a range of specialties our Clinical Coders provide an expert Clinical Coding service for all 37 Nuffield Health hospitals.

Our coding team has a broad range of experience and includes an Experienced Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and two Approved Clinical Coding Auditors providing full audit, validation, and training support.

These Hybrid roles are predominantly home-based but there is an expectation to work occasionally from Nuffield Health sites, flexibility will be required to travel to meetings when necessary.

Experience

  • Good knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding classifications
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to sustain high volume and high-quality work product, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger/virtual team
