Main duties of the job
As a an Ophthalmology Staff Nurse, you will:
Be flexible, motivated, an excellent communicator and team worker
Join a close-knit team headed by our director of clinical services on our consultant-led department
Fully understand and pay close attention to each patient's needs
Work directly with some of the best clinical talent around
Gain valuable experience of new practices, equipment and facilities
Collaborate with practitioners across other departments to ensure continuity in patient care
To deliver evidence based care as part of their role to the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and procedures for which they are competent to practice without direct supervision.
To act as deputy to the Ophthalmic Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide knowledge and skills to the rest of the team.
The post holder will act as leader within the ophthalmic outpatient's team and be professionally accountable for the standard of care in that department.
The post holder will be actively involved in assisting with intravitreal injections and minor procedures to patients.
Administer and maintain custody of all medicines, including controlled drugs, adhering at all times to the Hospital Policy on Administration of Medicines.

Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital
Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital is a 30 bedded hospital within walking distance of the city centre with free onsite car parking. The hospital has two laminar flow operating theatres, a JAG accredited endoscopy unit and two minor treatment rooms in the outpatient department. There is a small radiology department and CT/ MRI services are provided in a mobile unit. Inpatient physiotherapy is provided within the hospital whilst our outpatients attend the fitness and wellbeing centre at Chichester gate for their follow up physio and hydrotherapy treatments.
Our main specialty is orthopedics. We also care for patients needing treatment within the specialties of gynaecology, urology, general surgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology max fax, and pain. We provide outpatient services for dermatology, cardiology, neurology, and rheumatology.

As a Staff Nurse in the Ophthalmology department at our Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital, you'll drive the standard in patient care.
