Job summary
We are looking for a permanent Band 6 Specialist Children's Occupational Therapist to join our Community Children's Therapy Team in West Essex, covering Uttlesford, Harlow and Epping Forest.
You will join our award winning Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service, where we are trail blazing a new integrated partnership model with Barnardos; a model that drives efficiencies so we can put more people in our services, spending time with children and families to improve health outcomes in the local community.
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for a caseload of children in the Harlow area, working at universal, targeted and specialist levels. You'll work closely with our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants, within a diverse multidisciplinary team with other dedicated staff as part of our innovative Child and Family Wellbeing Service. You will benefit from the support of friendly and inclusive colleagues and access regular supervision with a Band 7 Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
- Manage and prioritise your own caseload independently.
- Assess children with performance difficulties and provide tailored self-management advice.
- Recommend and arrange specialist equipment for home and school use.
- Support the Team Lead and Therapies Manager in achieving service targets.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and governance procedures.
- Take part in supervision, training, and team meetings.
- Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients and carers.
- Write assessment reports and select appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver and evaluate treatment to ensure effective outcomes.
