Job summary
As aBand 6 Ward Sister/Charge nurse based at St Martin's Hospital in Bath, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centered care and services to support individuals and teams. Working within a collaborative environment, you will oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care that is focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers.
You will promote high standards of evidence based practice at all times, and will have the opportunity to provide strong professional operational leadership across both inpatient areas.
You will often work without direct supervision and are empowered to use your own initiative towards goal setting, problem solving and unplanned situations.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Ward Sister/Charge nurse,your responsibilities will include:
- Demonstrate operational leadership at all times taking responsibility for the safe and effective organisation of the ward. Ensure staffing is allocated appropriately, in line with safer staffing levels and the correct skill mix.
- Act as a resource to provide sound clinical advice, support and guidance to nursing staff in all aspects of patient care. Monitor, report and act upon any changes in a persons condition where required.
- Have a positive and flexible attitude surrounding change that is supportive towards staff; identifying any educational or training needs required.
- To support monitor and encourage others as part of the MDT in order to provide positive patient outcomes.
- Have effective communication skills that allow them to manage sensitive or confidential information, conveying that in an appropriate manner.
- Demonstrate the organisations values and behaviours promoting equality and valuing diversity. Encourage and support individuals to recognise the rights and responsibilities of others.
