re you passionate about delivering high-quality dental care to patients with complex needs? Surrey Community Dental Service is looking for a dedicated and compassionate dentist to join our team in providing exceptional, evidence-based care to patients who require specialist support.
In this part-time role (22.5 hours per week), you'll deliver comprehensive clinical care to patients with special needs or specific dental requirements, including treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia where appropriate. You'll work across a variety of settingsincluding community clinics, hospitals, and domiciliary environmentsallowing for a flexible and patient-centred approach.Having a drivers licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
As part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll liaise with healthcare professionals, make onward referrals as needed, and oversee treatment planning and supervision of dental therapists. If you're committed to making a real difference in community healthcare, wed love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
As a Dental Officer, you will be responsible for;
- Identify commonly occurring medical emergencies and lead the dental team in the appropriate first line management of the emergency, using appropriate techniques, equipment, and drugs.
- Undertake a thorough examination of patients and be able to plan, manage and deliver care to a wide range of patients.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluates appropriate interventions to prevent disease and promote health for individual patients.
- Undertake appropriate assessment of patients to determine the need for specialist advice as appropriate
- Undertake the diagnosis of periodontal disease; select the appropriate periodontal techniques and delivers periodontal care in an effective way.
- Undertake routine exodontia and simple surgical exodontias.
- Undertake the diagnosis, selection and delivery of appropriate restorative techniques and/or replacement of teeth as required.
- Consider all appropriate behavioral management techniques.
- Carry out comprehensive treatment planning and provide treatment for patients who require treatment under general anaesthesia, including appropriate case selection.
- Provide advice, training, and guidance to colleagues as appropriate.
- To provide clinical cover, when required, in clinics other than their base.
