As a Health Visitor (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse), youll lead and deliver high-quality, proactive care in line with the Healthy Child Programme. Our mission is to reduce health inequalities, safeguard children, and improve outcomes by working for the community, with the community.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Visitor, you will:

  • Act as the public health lead for the health visiting skill-mix team within a defined population or locality area

  • Deliver theUniversal Partnership Plusreach of the Healthy Child Programme by assessing health needs, implementing targeted or personalised interventions, and delegating effectively to the wider skill-mix team in an outcomes-focused manner

  • Take responsibility for the outcomes of children on child protection plans within your caseload, working in close collaboration with key partners to address identified public health needs

  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with families and key stakeholders, fostering effective partnership working

  • Provide holistic care that supports the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of children and familiesparticularly those on child protection plansthrough multi-agency collaboration

  • Promote health and wellbeing through the universal reach of the Healthy Child Programme, providing advice, signposting, and making referrals to partner agencies when appropriate

  • Contribute to multi-agency assessments of children and families, taking on the lead professional role where appropriate

  • Co-manage a caseload as part of a team of Health Visitors, working autonomously and taking full responsibility for the assessment, intervention, and outcomes of your allocated families

The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a recognised degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy, with currentHCPC registrationandRCSLT membership.

  • Has a minimum of2 years post-qualification experience, withspecialist knowledgeof assessment and intervention for children with speech, language, and communication needs.

  • Demonstratesevidence of continued professional development, including relevant post-graduate training and participation in Clinical Excellence Networks.

  • Understandslocal and national policies, particularly those related to child protection, education, and childrens health services.

  • Confidently manages their own caseload and works effectively across arange of client groups and settings.

  • Brings experience indelivering and developing trainingfor carers and professionals.

  • Possesses strongcommunication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Adaptable and well-organised, with the ability toprioritise effectivelyand respond to changing needs in a fast-paced service.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
