Bank Switchboard Operator

Job summary

We are looking for Bank Switchboard Operators to join our 24 hour team at St Martins Hospital to help answer all internal and external calls in a polite and timely manner.

You will be the first point of contact for all visitors and patients attending St Martins outpatient appointments, providing a wide range of knowledge regarding location of clinics and to answer any queries.

Using system one to triage information and log patient details, keyboard skills are advantageous, alongside a good work ethic. We are a close knit team so a team player is vital alongside the ability to work on your own initiative as lone working is part of this position

Our service runs 365 days a year working fixed shift patterns of 7am-3pm, 3pm - 11pm and 11pm-7am Increments will be paid for unsocial hour work and weekends

This position is to cover annual leave and sickness

Main duties of the job

  • Answer all internal and external calls into the Hospital.
  • Have the ability to judge urgency of queries through in-depth questioning to determine the most appropriate member of staff to deal with the call.
  • Have effective use of the IT switchboard system and the ability to use System one to input data and confidential information.
  • Use Microsoft Teams to store information and update systems.
  • Respond to District Nurse calls for the local area and to contact the relevant nurse.
  • Book transport for Bloods and specimens.
  • Provide admin support to the service and manager.
