Job summary
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation covering the Community Neuro and Stroke Service, the in-patient older adult rehabilitation unit with dedicated stroke beds and the falls and balance clinic.
The available post is currently offered on a full time basis, with each rotation lasting 9 months.Each service is supported by a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and there is a strong commitment to supervision, learning and development.
The Community Neuro and Stroke Service Early Supported Discharge Team (ESD) provides intensive, specialist rehabilitation in the community for those people who have experienced an acute stroke and for people with long term neurological conditions. The service operates over 7 days and includes bank holiday working.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake assessments of service users in the community in order to formulate individualised, evidence based, management and treatment plans.
The Sulis Unit at St Martins Hospital isfocused upon maximising our patients recovery with a strong commitment to provide an effective and enabling rehabilitation environment. We work closely with other services to ensure patients are discharged with the right level of support for their on-going community based rehabilitation or longer term needs.

Main duties of the job
Within eachrotation, you will:
- Undertake assessment of service users in order to formulate individualised management and treatment plans.
- Implement evidence based Occupational Therapy intervention.
- Evaluate Occupational Therapy intervention and facilitate timely discharge of service users from the service.
- Communicate effectively with members of the service and with members of other organisations.
- Work with service users and their carers towards shared goals, providing advice, education and training where required.
- Assess for and provide equipment to assist service users in the completion of activities of daily living.
- Deliver safe moving and handling practice as part of clinical intervention.
- Participate in service development projects
- Actively engage within the supervisory process.

The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
- HCPC (Occupational Therapy) registration
- BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- The ability to work flexibly across specialities as need arises
- The ability to carry out a range of assessments and procedures in order to write and evaluate treatment plans
- Knowledge of relevant national guidance and other relevant initiatives
- Access to a car and hold a valid UK license
- A keen interest in developing specialist skills.
