Job summary

HCRG Care GroupTargeted and System Support Services(TSSS) work in close partnership with Children and Young People (CYP), their parents / carers, education, and health colleagues to provide interventions and support to improve emotional wellbeing and healthy lifestyles.

TheTargeted and System Support Servicessupport the outcomes framework of the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service through the provision of targeted services which support the achievement of emotional health and healthy lifestyle outcomes.

They include: -

  • Southend, Essex, and Thurrock Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (SET CAMHS) underpinned by the Thrive Framework.
  • The Affinity Programme delivering a trauma informed approach and restorative coaching to prevent school exclusion.
  • Healthy Schools: working with schools to develop health promotion and trauma informed environment.
  • The Transforming Care Keyworker Service supporting CYP with learning difficulties or ASD who are at risk of hospital admission through poor mental health.
  • Child & Family Healthy Lifestyles; including National Child Measurement Programme and intervention for overweight children

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a volunteer to support in Essex, Southend & Thurrock

The Key Worker Parent Peer Support Volunteer is a vital role within our organisation, providing essential support and guidance to parents and caregivers who are navigating multiple challenges. As a Parent Peer Support Volunteer, you will leverage your own lived experience of navigating multiple systems and services for your child and / or your family to empower and assist others in their journey toward improved mental health and well-being.

  • Peer Support:Offer empathetic, non-judgmental, and confidential peer support to parents and caregivers facing mental health challenges within their families.

Share personal experiences and insights to foster understanding, connection, and hope.

  • Advocacy and Education:Advocate for the needs and rights of parents and caregivers in the mental health system.

Be involved in the delivery of group forums to support parents / carers and promote self-care and resilience.

  • Self-Care and Training:Engage in regular self-care and seek supervision or peer support when needed.

Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of all information shared by parents and caregivers

  • Driving licence and access to vehicle for volunteering purposes
  • To reliable, responsible, and committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people.
  • To have personal maturity and resilience volunteering across the TSS Services can be emotionally challenging so it is important that volunteers have the maturity and resilience to cope with difficult.
