Job summary

As a Healthcare Assistant Apprentice, you'll be making a difference in the community as we provide vital community NHS health and care services helping people to manage their own health and stay living independently for longer. Our work is crucial to the community as we aim to prevent unnecessary hospital admission.

This role offers you the first steps of a career in health and care with possible progression opportunities into adult nursing, mental health, children and young people or allied health profession therapy.

Main duties of the job

Within this role, you will:

  • Assist in providing nursing care as delegated by the Team Leader within patients homes.
  • Maintain knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver a quality service that is responsive to the changing needs of patients.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the team as delegated by the Senior Sister/Team Sister
  • Deliver care in accordance with organisation policies, procedures and guidelines, according to competencies
  • Report any changes in condition of the patient to the Team Leader or in their absence the designated nurse in charge of the caseload.

Job responsibilities

As an Apprentice Healthcare Assistant, you will complete a nationally recognised Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship. To support you in successfully completing your programme you'll be given monthly learning days with weekly study time to develop your knowledge and skills.

A dedicated assessor who will support you in your journey and help you realise and achieve your career aspirations. A work mentor who works in your department to support you through your apprenticeship and settle you into your new role.
