Job responsibilities

The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service is provided by Virgin Care in partnership with Barnardos, which ensures that families have easy access to local services, staff are able to provide the service to children and families in the community, whether in a local clinic, play area or in a familys front room. This flexible and innovative way of working is about providing services without walls and ensuring those families who need support the most, are easily reached.

The ECFWS also offers career progression with the opportunity to undertake apprenticeships, SPCHN training and other roles within the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

Within this role, you will:

Working alongside Band 6 SCPHN School Nurse and the wider skill mix team you will have a real opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for children and families in the community, for the community and with the community.

This role will work with the School Nursing team to offer every family a universal School Nursing service to support aspects of a child/Young persons development and health from Transition into School up to the age of 19 (25 for SEND). To be eligible for applying for one of our posts you must be a registered nurse and have strong communication and organisation skills, a flexible approach will ensure you deliver positive experiences to service users at every stage of theirhealthcare journey.

As the School Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the Healthy Child programme, working with multi-professional teams to facilitate multi-agency and interdisciplinary working. You will promote and maintain an effective service to clients, using the assessment framework, communication, negotiation, and collaboration.

You will work within the Children Act 2004 and act as an advocate for the voice of the child. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate packages of care. Identifying concerns and reporting and referring those directly to social care or Healthy Family Team Leads, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Safeguarding Supervisors.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a nursing qualification and experience of working with children and young people.

You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.
