Staff Nurse (Developmental to Senior Staff Nurse)
Hours: Your normal hours are 24 hours per week, worked on a rota basis involving days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. As we run a 24hrs a day service, flexibility will be key. You will
be notified ofyour shift days/times by your Line Manager
Salary: 0-2 years experience - £29,824. 2 years plus experience- £31,317.

The role is based at the hospice on Chamberlain Road.
Under the leadership of the Senior Nursing Staff, you would be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, documenting all relevant information accurately and legibly.
You will ensure that a patients holistic needs are met in a person centred way.
Main duties of the job
Demonstrate and develop an interest and expertise in palliative care and end of life care nursing.
In conjunction with the senior nurse on duty, be responsible for the nursing care and support of an identified group of patients.
Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, documenting all relevant information accurately and legibly.

Communicate appropriately with patients, their carers and relatives and other visitors to the unit.
Communicate appropriately with all staff, liaise with other departments and agencies and attend internal meetings as appropriate.
Ensure the hospices policies relating to the security, control and administration of drugs are adhered to in line with NMC guidance. At the request of a senior nurse and under their guidance co-ordinate in-patient activity and communications for the duration of a shift as appropriate.
Participate in the supervision and appraisal from an identified senior nurse.
Under the direction of a senior nurse participate in the induction of new staff, both paid and unpaid as requested.
With appropriate guidance contribute to the role development of unqualified staff within the clinical team.
Participate in Dove House Hospice clinical governance arrangements and attend relevant meetings as requested by senior nurses.
Supervise, direct and support volunteers working in the clinical areas.
Report and record any complaints from patients, visitors and staff reporting them to the nurse in charge.
Attend statutory training as requested and be responsible for own professional development in line with MNC requirements.
Work in other areas of patient care as required, subject to the needs of the service.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all aspects of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and all Dove House Hospice policies and procedures.
Undertake any other relevant duties as requested by senior nurses.
