Job summary

Salary: £40,634 - £44,601 FTE Actual salary £26,005 - 28,545 per annum.

Hours of work: 24 hours per week to be worked over 3 days. Days to be worked will be discussed and agreed at interview. Daily working hours are 08:00 to17:00.

Can you provide educational leadership to clinical staff to enhance specialised, person-centered care within Dove House Hospice?

Are you able to support the Head of Nursing, Therapies and Quality to ensure the nursing team is competent and confident in their role?

Are you able to ensure members of the clinical team comply with all statutory training requirements? If the answers are yes, then team Dove House is for you!

The role is based at the hospice down Chamberlain Road.

You will be responsible for the planning and delivering clinical skills training, overseeing clinical placements and will be the named assessor, to shadow and assess the practical clinical skills competencies for nurses, care assistants and volunteers as required.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing education and training programs for clinical staff within the hospice.

The core function of the role ensures that all staff members are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families in a hospice setting.

The role will design, deliver and evaluate a range of clinical education for staff and learners in the organisation.

Working strategically and collaboratively with clinical services to develop clinical competencies, implement and evaluate initiatives to sustain such competencies

Job responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides educational leadership to clinical staff to enhance specialised, person-centered care within Dove House Hospice.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders: plan, organise, deliver and evaluate comprehensive training and education programs for multi-disciplinary clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with Senior Members of Clinical services, and Hospice trainer in the planning and delivery of educational curricula.
  • Undertaking annual training needs analysis with all members of the nursing team, proactively identifying ongoing educational needs.
  • Work in collaboration with the People and Development Team to ensure training records are maintained and remain up to date.
  • Lead on the development, planning, and implementation of internal and external clinical training programs.
  • Develop, plan and implement regular team learning opportunities.
  • Regularly review the agreed competency assessment and training tools, ensuring they are current, and evidence based.
  • Develop and maintain links with local education providers, ensuring a coordinated approach to training and clinical placements.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Clinical team develop, plan and implement an annual training plan for the clinical team.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all new members of the clinical team receive appropriate inductions and develop appropriate induction programs.
  • Educates clinical staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
  • Actively contributes to the development of an effective and supportive learning environment.
  • Act as a role model to other staff in the delivery of patient care, including clinical skills.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge ensuring compliance with own professional requirements.

Managerial/ Leadership l Duties:

  • Provide regular reports to the Director of Clinical Service on the delivery of specific key performance indicators.
  • Provide income generation within clinical services, ensuring student tariff and external training is. maximised within the service.
  • Participate in clinical team meetings as appropriate.
  • Support the implementation of digital clinical initiatives.
  • Play an active role in the promotion of quality and safety within the clinical environment.
  • Support the Director of Clinical Services in the delivery of the care services strategic objectives.
  • Provide an approachable professional presence to ensure staff can obtain assistance, advice and support regarding clinical education.
