Job summary

  • To work clinically as a nurse in all areas of care and oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of care to address patients complex and changing health care needs. The care team works 7 days a week and there is likely to be a requirement for weekend and night working.
  • To provide advice to support staff and patients especially when patients have end of life care needs ensuring all medical and nursing needs are understood and carried out in accordance with Royal Marsden, QCS policy & care plans.
  • To liaise with multi-professional teams to improve the way in which nursing and end of life care is provided; negotiating with medical team(s) on an agreed patient care pathway and including ongoing referral to other services as appropriate to ensure a seamless service.
  • To extend the scope of practice by undertaking additional training and complying with local policies on maintaining competence, e.g. non-medical prescribing, physical assessment, psychological support.

Main duties of the job

- Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians- Monitor patient vital signs and symptoms- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes- Educate patients and their families on health management- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
