Job summary
We are looking to recruit
a Therapy Assistant with experience in Rehabilitation to work closely with the
current Therapy Assistants team and wider MDT of Physiotherapists, Occupational
Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Clinical Psychologist. The post
holder will be working in a dynamic environment providing high quality
treatment programmes under the supervision of the wider therapy team to
individuals with a range of neurological conditions. You will have the
opportunity to work closely with your patients and utilise an array of
resources and up to date technology and run therapy group sessions and
activities. There will be opportunities to run/attend regular training, receive
regular supervision and Continuing Professional Development is actively
encouraged. We hold weekly therapy team meetings and in service training.
Main duties of the job
As a Therapy
Assistant at Marbrook you will be a key member of the MDT providing
rehabilitation to our group of residents. You will be carrying out treatment
interventions as instructed by therapists, this may include exercise sessions,
walking practice, supporting someone with washing and dressing, and aiding with
their communication.
You will also
support the team with discharge planning, this can include liaison with outside
agencies such as social services, equipment services and third sector
organisations such as Stroke association or Headway.

provides intensive rehabilitation for people post stroke, ABI, spinal injury

Purpose of role:
The post holder will be responsible for implementing a wide array of therapy interventions under the guidance and direction of the relevant therapists. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the rehab coaches and support workers to implement therapy plans and work jointly on residents goals and objectives.
The post holder will be expected to take part in regular in service training and provide advice and training to other team members and residents and family as directed by the therapy team.
Specific Responsibilities:
- To ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.
- To carry out therapeutic interventions as directed by the therapy team across all disciplines: Physio, OT, speech and language therapy etc.
- To provide feedback to therapy team on these interventions.
- Contribute to resident goal setting/planning.
- Support therapy team with referrals and liaison with onward services e.g. social care, community therapy, equipment services, wheelchair services etc.
- To keep accurate and clear documentation.
- Participate in audits.
- Take an active role in personal and professional development.
General Responsibilities:

- To keep abreast of new developments in the profession, and to bring innovation and creative input to the role, for consideration and discussion with line manager.
