Job summary

We are looking to expand our team, and recruit an additional Speech and Language Therapist with experience in neurological rehabilitation, in either a full time or part time capacity. The role is ideal for someone looking to progress from a general speech and language therapy role working with adults, either in the acute or in the community, into a neuro-rehab specific role. The post holder will be working in a new and dynamic environment, providing comprehensive assessment and high quality communication and dysphagia therapy to individuals with a wide range of acute and progressive neurological conditions. You will have the opportunity to work closely with patients, families and staff, and utilise a wide array of resources and up to date technology. There will be opportunities to run training, to provide supervision to assistants and run therapy groups. Continued professional development is actively encouraged within the service we hold weekly therapy team meetings and in service training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of patients such as Stroke and ABI providing intensive therapeutic input after admission from acute hospitals or Level 1 specialist rehab facilities. You will support patients on their rehab pathway which includes completion of comprehensive assessments, inputting into and devising patient care and treatment plans, person centred goal setting, completion of outcome measures and liaison with family members, wider MDT and external agencies such as CCG commissioners and social services. Liaison with local Videofluoroscopy, ENT and AAC services and completion of joint assessments. There will also be opportunities to support individuals residing within the Nursing and Dementia services within The Marbrook Centre, including those with neurodegenerative conditions.

The Marbrook Centre is a specialist Neurological Rehabilitation provider in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. The Marbrook Centre has several services within one building; providing intensive rehabilitation for people post stroke, acquired brain injury, spinal injury and other acute neurological conditions, long-term nursing care for those with long-term neurological conditions, and residential care for those living with dementia. Since opening 4 years ago, The Marbrook Centre has developed a track record of consistently high quality therapy outcomes and positive feedback from individuals and families and our CCG partners on the rehabilitation and care experience. At Marbrook we put the individual at the centre of their rehabilitation and care with a significant focus on high quality communication between the staff, the individual and their family. Speech and Language is a vital part of this process and is invaluable in giving a voice to those who otherwise may not be fully heard. We work closely with the medical and care teams, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychologists, who all work within the same building.
