Are you an experienced Psychologist with a passion for delivering high quality care?

We need a Lead Psychologist whos passionate about helping patients with a range of complex mental health needs.

As a Lead Psychologist you will oversee the Psychology Department across the PICU and Acute wards at Cygnet Hospital Oldbury.

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury:

Cygnet Hospital Oldbury is a new state-of-the-art PICU and Acute hospital for women. The service has two wards, a 12 bed PICU ward and a 15 bed Acute ward. Cygnet Hospital Oldbury has a full multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and supports the acute needs of adults requiring rapid access to mental health services, including those who may need an intensive care environment.

Were focused on length of stay and making sure individuals move as quickly and safely as possible from our services to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.

The post-holder will have a key role in providing a high quality of psychology service to patients across all aspects of care.

Your Day-to-Day

The post-holder will have a key role in providing:

  • Specialist psychological assessments, interpretation from psychological tests, semi-structured interviews, individual and group therapy. You will also consider potential risks and social needs of the client group, relevant to their diagnosis.
  • Collaboratively develop risk assessments and care plans with the MDT.
  • You will work as part of a dedicated clinical team providing a multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation in a therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.
  • You will be expected to offer psychological insight and knowledge around the clinical area and provide consultation about the psychological care of the client group to staff, families and other agencies.
  • As a HCPC Registered Psychologist, you will have a pivotal role in the training and clinical supervision of Assistant Psychologists and the APDP programme provided by Cygnet.

We are looking for someone who is

  • A HCPC registered Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist with experience in a mental health setting
  • Minimum 3 years qualified experience
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in the delivery of trauma informed care
  • Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
  • Capable of working with difficulties such as self-harm and suicide attempts, physical & verbal aggression, drug and alcohol problems and offending behaviour.
