As Resident Medical Officer, you'll play a crucial role providing on call cover for Cygnet Hospital Hexham, our 27 bed mental health facility for women with complex mental health needs. The hospital is built to meet the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment.

Main duties of the job

The RMO is the Doctor covering on calls between 5pm and 9am on weekdays and 9am -9am weekend shifts. Generally the RMO will work on a rota of 4 days on / 3 days off every week.

We are looking for someone who is...

  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help
  • Preferably experienced in Psychiatry
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
