Service Line: Mental Health Forensic (Low and Medium Secure Services)
Summary of the site
Cygnet Bury Hudson Hospital is a 6 ward hospital specialising in the care and treatment of people with a forensic pathway in to secure mental health services.Our Hudson Hospital is part of a larger site in Bury consisting of 3 hospitals with 14 wards.
We have a Head of Occupational Therapy in each Hospital and a Regional Lead Occupational Therapist on site to support the different services.
Occupational Therapy Induction, Preceptorship and Training:
We offer a comprehensive induction for all staff new to our services. All band 5 equivalent Occupational Therapists are provided with a 12 month preceptorship programme, to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills as you start out in your career.
As a company we offer a high standard of training opportunities for professional development. These include training on different models such a range of MOHO assessment tools, the Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability (VdTMoCA) and training that offers a Sensory Integration (SI) Preceptorship as a pathway to further SI training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 13 service users. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge. You will be supported by an OT team consisting of a qualified occupational therapist per ward with an activity coordinator, and OT assistants covering 2 wards each.
Our secure services in the Hudson Hospital are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for men. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the secure care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible, while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into secure care.

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 160 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development in your service and across the company.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathways for service users.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
