Salary: £28,613 p/a

Hours: Full Time, Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours, 8-4

The Hospital: Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is mental health hospital consisting of six wards (male low and medium secure, two male PICUs, one female acute and one male acute). We achieved an overall Good rating from a recent CQC inspection and we strive to work towards an outstanding rating.

The Role: We are currently looking to employ a full time Assistant Psychologist to join our Psychology Department at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. The successful candidate will join a team comprised of qualified, trainee, assistant and honorary psychologists and will work across PICU and/or Acute wards.

The post holder will be working closely with and will be supervised weekly by a qualified psychologist, who will also be the post holders line manager. We are seeking a strong candidate to support and enhance the psychological care of patients at the service by assisting the team with;

  • Administering and reporting psychometric assessments/outcome measures
  • Developing clinical and risk formulations
  • Developing and implementing care plans for psychological interventions
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating individual/group treatment programmes
  • Supporting with the development of Positive Behaviour Support plans
  • Administration, audit, research and service development
  • Contribute to the training and support of staff

The Assistant Psychologist will need to be able to work independently, safely, and ethically within the limits agreed with their supervisor.
