Job responsibilities

Cygnet have a fantastic opportunity for an expereinced individual to join our team asGroup Head of Emergency Preparedness and Corporate Risk.

You will be joining our team on a full time basis working 40 hours per week, this is a hybrid role with travel required as needed.

The Role:

The Group Head of Emergency Preparedness and Corporate Risk will play a lead role in the company in developing, implementing long term strategies and ensuring robust business continuity plans are in place for the company. They will provide expert, specialist and authoritative advice on all aspects of organisational resilience, emergency planning and response. They will also support the Director of Corporate Governance to take forward the ongoing development of a governance, risk and assurance framework, including a Board Assurance Framework, for the organisation, and ensure that it meets the standards of good governance across England, Wales and Scotland.

Your day-to-day

  • Lead the ongoing review and development of the company strategy ensuring that corporate strategies and plans align to the overarching strategic plan.
  • Review and revise existing strategies, policies and protocols as needed based on changing conditions in national or local policy environment.
  • Provide leadership and carry responsibility ensuring the delivery of a high quality emergency preparedness, resilience and response function to support managers in achieving the objectives of the Executive Management Team.
  • To provide regular reports to the Director of Corporate Governance with regard to the current state of emergency preparedness across the different areas and services within the Department, and ensure that the Senior Management Team (SMT) members are aware of their responsibilities under emergency planning legislation.
  • To be responsible for developing, managing and co-ordinating Cygnets approach to corporate risk management, including the Board Assurance Framework, across the organisation in line with the agreed Risk Management Strategy and Policy and associated Risk Appetite Statement.

You are

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of work within the emergency planning / business continuity or risk management field.
  • Experience of delivering emergency preparedness and business continuity plans and reviewing the plans of others.
  • Experience of developing governance and assurance frameworks.
  • Experience of developing strategy.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of creating a safe and secure environment within a healthcare organisation for patients and staff and delivering emergency planning / business continuity in a complex department.
  • Ability to simulate information quickly and make reasonable judgements.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of software packages.
  • Excellent drafting, interpersonal and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
