We have an opportunity for aSpecialty Doctorto shape services at Cygnet Hospital Churchill while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm, including 1:5 on-calls and 1:7 weekend on-calls.
The post holder will participate in the duty doctor on-call rota at the hospital i.e. 1:5 weekdays on-calls (5 pm 9 am) and 1:7 weekend on-calls (Saturday and Sunday, 9 am 9 am). Supervision for on-call related issues will take place with Juniper ward Consultant (monthly Clinical Supervision) and / or Medical Director at the monthly Medical Advisory Committee meeting.
Cygnet Hospital Churchill,with a GoodCQC overall rating and locatedin South / Central London, is a 57 bed inpatient mental health hospital for men. Cygnet Churchill has four wards including two emergency acute admissions services, one male rehab ward (18 beds) and one interim complex care ward (1 bed).
This role will be based on one ofour 17-bed male acute services.This service provides a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.
The MDT staff are actively encouraged and supported to complete Quality Improvement Projects, as part of our supportive culture to continue to improve on the quality of care we provide.

Your role responsibilities
- Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
- Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
- Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings
- Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals
- Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
- Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
- Audit medical services & ensure compliance with GMC & other professional guidelines
- Uphold policies & procedures and contribute to service governance & development
- Participate in 1:5 On call rota
