Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work across our CAMHS wards. Cygnet Hospital Bury provides a CAMHS service supporting young people aged between 12-18 with a range of mental health needs in low secure, psychiatric intensive care and acute environments. Main duties of the job

At Cygnet Bury we are focused on individual outcomes informed by evidence-based interventions and a multidisciplinary care pathway; we are home to specialist units for ongoing and intensive care and support. Alongside full educational provision for young people experiencing mental health problems. The aim of the service is to help young people stabilise and return home as soon as possible. You will provide high quality assessment and therapy and plan and implement programmes of care in individual or group settings using evidence-based practice, providing specialist clinical advice to others regarding the management and care of patients with communication difficulties. You will produce reports reflecting specialist knowledge of a service-user needs and summarise the progress of clinical interventions along with maintaining service-user case notes in line with the standards of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and local hospital policies.

You will be responsible for providing clinical supervision to a recently qualified practitioner.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver a clinical service for a complex client group, using a range of skills and knowledge in assessment and intervention methods within a coherent framework.
  • Deliver teaching/training to staff at the site, under the guidance of a supervising Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the Speech and Language Therapy service.
  • Provide clinical supervision to a recently qualified SLT

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and Current State Registration with HCPC and membership of professional body (RCSLT)
  • Strong clinical and professional skills
  • Experience or keen interest in the field of CYP and Mental Health Conditions
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning
  • Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion
