Your Role: Occupational Therapist (Band 5)
Working hours: full-time, 37.5 hrs per week (Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm)
Salary: Up to £31,000 per year (DOE)
Service Line: Mental Health Adults Female (Personality Disorder)
The post holder would not be required to have experience in Personality Disorders services, but a willingness to learn new skills.
Main duties of the job
Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is our state-of-the-art, 63 bed mental health facility for adults and it`s purpose built to meet the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment, across four different wards.
The hospitals services have been requested and agreed by local and regional NHS bodies to meet the urgent demand for specialist mental health services within Kent.
Roseacre is Cygnet Hospital Maidstone's Personality Disorder service for Women and it supports women with a history of Personality Disorder, self-harm and trauma.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.
In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT-led service that meets service users needs. This will be based upon the occupational therapy process, of assessment, intervention and review of occupational need.The focus on this service is community living and functional and coping skills.
Caseload: 16 patients
You will have the support of a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant, who you will be responsible for their supervision.
You will receive monthly supervision from an experienced Occupational Therapist and support from weekly 1:1 meetings with your supervisor.
Unique Selling Point: The ward features a sensory room which is a vital part of the wards strategy of supporting patients in their emotional regulation.

Summary of the site
Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is our state-of-the-art, 63 bed mental health facility for adults situated in the Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone.
Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is purpose built to meet the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment. The hospital will provide an important and much-needed service for local patients from Kent.
Roseacre Ward is a 16 bed personality disorder service for women. The aim of the service is to support service users manage their mental health, develop coping strategies, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for a return to independent living. Roseacre Ward provides a care pathway for service users who are preparing to step down to community living and uses a recovery focused model.
Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs on the female personality disorder ward (Roseacre) under the supervision of the Head of Occupational Therapy.
You will hold supervisory responsibility for Occupational Therapy Assistants, and take a leadership role in specific projects. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with Psychology, Psychiatry, Nurses, mental health support workers and ward admin staff.

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
