Job summary

Base: Cygnet Gledholt Mews and Coach House - 34 Greenhead Rd, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, HD1 4EZ Gledholt Mews and Coach House is our enhanced residential service for adults with mental health needs or a personality disorder who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway and are looking for the next stage in their rehabilitation journey or for those who may be stepping up from a community placement. Main duties of the job

At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction under the supervision of a more senior Occupational Therapist. An integral part of this role will be supervising others, with a focus on supporting student education within the team.

The Cygnet Occupational Therapy Department recognise not all Occupational Therapists qualifying at present may have had the direct experience due to the national placement crisis. We offer a graded approach to caseload management, have robust supervision support and have our own preceptorship process for all newly qualified OTs to consolidate core skills.

This is an exciting time to join Cygnet Gledholt Mews and Coach House as we are currently recruiting for an outstanding Occupational Therapist to join our team. Gledholt Mews and Coach House is a 21 bedded Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service based in the heart of Huddersfield. Our aim is to support residents with a diagnosis of Mental Health and/or Neurodevelopmental difficulties to integrate back into society, promote independence and also support overall quality of life.

Within this role, you will contribute to the maintenance and development of the Occupational Therapy service across our Gledholt services, you will work under the supervision of a Highly Specialist Band 7 Occupational Therapist. You will support residents through the Rehabilitative Occupational Therapy pathway. You will also have the support of Activity Co-ordinators, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each resident.

Service Description

Gledholt Mews and Coach House is an enhanced community residential service providing outcome focused support for adults with mental health and/or neurodevelopmental difficulties. It is a 21 bedded community based service that promotes quality of life alongside for men and women in a therapeutic and homely setting. The team works closely and collaboratively with residents, their family and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.

The Occupational Therapy department across both Gledholt sites consists of 2 qualified OTs and 4 activity coordinators. There is opportunity to support residents with varying needs across both sites, this will help establish therapeutic skills working alongside individuals with varying needs. There is a strong focus on community integration and both Gledholt sites are fortunate to be situated in close proximity to a variety of rehabilitative establishments.
