Your Role
Service Line:We currently have opportunity for a newly qualified Band 5 Occupational Therapists to work in our Mental Health Forensic (Low and Medium Secure) service line.
Summary of the site:
Cygnet Hospital Bury is a large site with 15 wards across three separate hospitals. We have a Regional Lead of Occupational Therapy and three Head Occupational Therapists on site to support the different services at Bury.
Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 13 service users. The clinical role would focus on one of our Low or Medium Secure mental health wards in the Hudson Hospital. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.
Each ward has their own occupational therapist and activity coordinator with an OT assistant covering 2 wards.
Our secure services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for both men and women. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the secure care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into secure care.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
Occupational Therapy Preceptorship & Induction:
We understand the pandemic has brought with it challenging times, and we recognise this may have had an impact on some placement experiences during your recent training years. We offer an Occupational Therapy 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.

Requirements
