Service Line: Mental Health Adults (Personality Disorder)
Summary of the site
Alders Clinic is a 20 bed highly specialised personality disorder service for women with complex needs. The occupational therapy department is a close team within a larger MDT consisting of Psychology, Nursing and Psychiatry. Our environment is rehabilitation-focused and includes a gym, sensory room, art room and other therapeutic spaces. The service aims to address the core features of personality disorder (PD); emotional regulation, interpersonal functioning, and self-identity to prepare the women in our care for a transition to life back in the community. Following our PD pathway from the assessment and stabilisation ward, to our core treatment ward and then onto our consolidation ward where they prepare for discharge.
Job Summary
Within this role, you will lead the occupational therapy department and provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs in a personality disorder rehabilitation hospital, under the supervision of an off-site Regional Lead OT. You will also have the support of a close team of an Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant and an Activity Coordinator, who will provide therapeutic interventions and meaningful activity engagement for each patient.

We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
