Job summary

We want to recruit an exceptional OT to be part of a senior management team. If you have a history of demonstrating clinical expertise & strong leadership skills, with a passion for developing others this could be an opportunity for you.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction. You will lead the occupational therapy department, and be part of the senior management team. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team.

This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework.

Service Line:

Cygnet Bury Dunes Hospital has provision in two service lines:

Mental Health Forensic Low Secure Services (covering Female patients, Deaf patients and Older Age Male patients) PICU & Acute care

Summary of the site:

The Dunes service consists of 5 Wards across two buildings providing 65 beds, which the post holder will lead and manage.

Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for up to 13 service users. The ward placement is negotiable depending on experience and service need. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.

Leadership: You would report to and deputise for the Regional Lead Occupational Therapist (on site). You would also hold leadership and management responsibilities of the occupational therapy service of the 5 wards. Each ward has their own occupational therapist and activity coordinator with OT assistants covering 2 wards. You will drive innovation and quality improvement further within the occupational therapy services.

Our services are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for both men and women. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the secure care pathway or the Acute and PICU care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into hospital care.

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
