Main duties of the job

The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. 

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

Summary of the site

Cygnet Delfryn House is our 28 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men & Cygnet Delfryn Lodge is a 24 bed service specialising in high dependency inpatient rehabilitation for women. Both services cater for individuals who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act.

Individuals often come from multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or are stepping down from secure settings.

You will be joining an established, supportive OT team and an experienced MDT across the site. You will get to expand your skill set through working with a diverse range of diagnoses. You would also have opportunity to gain experience working across both male & female mental health services with both units on the same site. The OT team at Delfryn site consists of 1 Head OT, 1 Band 6 OT, 1 Band 5 OT and 5 therapy coordinators. Weekly support is also provided from a Clinical Lead OT (Band 8).

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and many Occupational Therapy support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
