Tyler Ward is a male PICU with 14 beds at Cygnet Hospital Blackheath. Tyler Ward strives to improve service users wellbeing, reduce risk and facilitate individual return to optimal functioning to fully engage in their recovery.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, the role involves planning and implementing activities as a therapeutic medium under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist who works full time on Tyler Ward and the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist who works full time and is based on Meridian Ward (part of the Secure Service Line at Blackheath).

You will also be supported by an Activity Co-ordinator who works as part of the Tyler Ward Occupational Therapy Team and is on the ward 3 days per week. The post holder will be offered support and guidance to utilise standardised assessments and implement structured groups.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Preceptorship & Induction:

We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.
