Meridian Ward is a male Low Secure Unit with 16 beds at Cygnet Hospital Blackheath. Meridian Ward strives to improve service users wellbeing, reduce risk and facilitate individual return to optimal functioning to fully engage in their recovery.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant the role involves planning and implementing activities as a therapeutic medium under the guidance of the Deputy Head Occupational Therapist who works full time and is based on Meridian Ward. You will also be supported by the wider Occupational Therapy Team based at Blackheath and Lewisham. 

The post holder will be offered support and guidance to utilise standardised assessments and implement structured groups. In this role you will work within an MDT (which consists of Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Social Work) to support recovery and rehabilitation for service users on Meridian Ward.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Preceptorship & Induction:

We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant 12 month preceptorship programme to support and consolidate core Occupational Therapy Skills.
