Job summary

At Schoen Clinic York we are looking for caring individuals who can combine clinical expertise with a compassionate approach to patient care to join our highly specialised clinic treating adults within a mental health setting.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure that the highest standard of evidence-based nursing care is delivered to all patients and their families,
  • To act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met,
  • To report any issues that are identified by patients or their relatives on a timely basis,
  • To ensure that all provision of nursing care is documented on a timely basis and accurately
  • To ensure that individual care plans are followed
  • To ensure meals are supervised and care plan around meals are followed.
  • With training and competency assessed, be able to pass Naso-gastric tubes in line with NG procedure.
  • With training and competency assessed carry out phlebotomy for patients.
  • To ensure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infections.
  • To administer all drugs and medications as per the local policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Children Act are fulfilled, as applicable.
  • To successfully complete the Immediate Life Support course on an annual basis, as per the Schoen Clinic Group policy Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation: GP Clinical 48, section,
  • To ensure personal continuing professional development (CPD) is maintained to comply with NMC registration, including Revalidation requirements,
  • To ensure records and notes are kept to a high standard for all service users and to support the accurate record keeping across the service

  • To ensure that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to nursing are followed.
  • To maintain sound and effective working relationships and communication with all hospital colleagues and consultants.
  • To maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality. Any disclosures of confidential information (including personal information kept on computer or other media) made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offence.
