Job summary
An integral position within the Mental Health Division of Schoen Clinic, providing expert advice on Clinical Governance, Risk management and Patient experience ensuring Mental Health Division compliance with legislative requirements, guidelines, national and local policy.
Leading the Mental Health Division by championing and raising awareness of effective governance, quality processes and regulatory requirements, it is the responsibility of the post holder to contribute to the development of the strategic quality agenda across the division and to create a positive culture of quality improvement and patient safety.
Main duties of the job
- Chair the Mental Health Governance and Quality Committee
- Lead on policy integration work across the mental health division alongside the HR Director.
- Lead and co-ordinate face-to-face training across the division. Ensure that training suppliers are approved to the appropriate level and that hospital sites maintain compliance levels of all colleagues.
- Collaboratively work with the Clinical Director , Medical Director and Hospital Directors to lead and support the hospitals to achieve CQC registration, and to achieve a rating of Outstanding in ongoing regulatory inspections.
- Ensure consistent and accurate collation and input of all data across the mental health group, required for patient outcome reporting systems, such as the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
- Produce consistent and accurate input of all data required for patient safety, such as Datix and Care Quality Commission (CQC) statutory notifications.

- Chair the Mental Health Governance and Quality Committee

- Collaboratively work with the Clinical Director , Medical Director and Hospital Directors to lead and support the hospitals to achieve CQC registration, and to achieve a rating of Outstanding in ongoing regulatory inspections.
- Oversee and embed Information Governance principles and Policy.
- Lead the quality and Governance agenda for the mental health group, ensuring outcome data is collected and reported on across the group in a meaningful way, working alongside the research committee.
- Ensure consistent and accurate collation and input of all data across the mental health group, required for patient outcome reporting systems, such as the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
- Produce consistent and accurate input of all data required for patient safety, such as Datix and Care Quality Commission (CQC) statutory notifications.
- Responsible for ensuring that all mental health sites comply with national reporting deadlines and NHSe/Provider Collaborative deadlines.
- Assist clinical teams across the division with the production of reports for governance meetings and the collection of data for audit purposes.
- Responsible for the mental health group policy library and ensuring appropriate review systems are in place.
- Undertake data processing and analytical processes to support requests for information as directed. This will involve making judgements involving complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
- Attend and chair meetings as and when necessary as agreed with clinical and management colleagues.
- Establish working knowledge of procedures and practices across the mental health division, including medical records systems and mental health terminology
- Communicating any change in processes to colleagues and training new colleagues as required
- Maintain knowledge of and maintain procedures relating to the Schoen Clinics Data Protection Act and Caldicott guidelines.
- To attend relevant courses and training both internally and externally in order to maintain personal development
- Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and as delegated or requested by the manager or supervisor, as the needs of the service require
- The post holder may be required to cover other administration roles in the event of a holiday, sickness or other extenuating circumstances
- To support a patient safety culture and promote learning from incidents and complaints
- Support with investigations and reviews, including PSIRF, thematic reviews, whistleblowing and complaints, providing reports within the given timescales and in accordance with policies
- Monitor Patient experience across the site, review themes, and support the changes to practice and policy in response to this
- Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of any training that contributes to the Quality Improvement and coaching of staff
- Act as the Lead for priority improvement initiatives including transformational improvement programmes across all services

- Provide leadership, facilitation and specialist support to front line teams and leaders to help implement continuous improvement and quality management systems

- Provide leadership, facilitation and specialist support to teams undertaking improvement projects, using recognised quality improvement methodology to maximise motivation, engagement, impact and learning.
