This exciting new role of Paramedic Practice Educator combines clinical and leadership time as part of our ambulance operations, alongside dedicated teaching time within our Education and Training team. There is opportunity to teach accredited courses such as RC(UK) ALS, PHTLS, Difficult Airway Course as well as expanding your education repertoire. The expected role will involve around 50% clinical time and 50% education and administration time.
Main duties of the job
Ambulance Operations and Clinical Time - As a Paramedic Practice Educator you will be responsible for working with all ambulance clinicians within ECS to support and mentor their clinical progression. With a focus on Apprentices, Student Paramedics and Newly Qualified Paramedics, you will be involved in their clinical learning pathway and be responsible for overseeing their portfolio requirements.
Your clinical time will predominantly be undertaken on frontline emergency ambulance shifts, with a variety of other opportunities to be involved across the full range of clinical operations within ECS.
Education Faculty Time - Led by an Emergency Medicine Consultant, our multiprofessional and highly credible education faculty offer a range of accredited courses from FREC 3, RC(UK) e-ALS and APLS to PHTLS and Difficult Airway to name just a few.
As a Paramedic Practice Educator you will work as part of the education team teaching on the above courses (where accredited to do so) to provide high quality and credible clinical education. We will also support you to gain additional instructor qualifications. Within your education time you will also have opportunities to develop and lead our team training days.

Produce structured training reports and action plans to ensure continued learning and development of all clinicians
Support new clinicians, undertaking initial sign off shifts and periodic shift reviews
Take part in the development and delivery of team training days, governance days and compliance reviews
Support newly qualified paramedics (NQPs) and student paramedics and student ECAs as they progress through their respective learning portfolios
Support new clinician induction days, providing a visible leadership and support structure and emphasise the standards of delivery and ethos of ECS
Lead clinical assessments and be a part of interview panels for prospective employees and contractors of ECS
Highlight those who require additional support and work with the Paramedic Team Leaders and clinician themselves to ensure a structured and achievable action plan
Utilise protected administrative time to ensure detailed documentation of shift reviews where appropriate
Work as part of the education faculty to deliver high quality, credible clinical education
Develop and expand your education qualifications and experience
Ensure ongoing personal CPD utilising dedicated personal development time as part of the rota

- Have a minimum of 2.5 years post-registration experience and hold current registration with the HCPC and be free from any cautions, convictions or conditions on practice.
- Hold a recognised education qualification and/or be an accredited instructor in one or more relevant course such as, but not limited to, ALS, APLS/EPALS, ATLS, PHTLS, Difficult Airway Course.
- Hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points.
- Hold CERAD L3 Emergency Driving Qualification or equivalent.
Desirable
- Hold a BSc in Paramedic Practice or equivalent.
- Hold a relevant postgraduate qualification such as PGCert, DipIMC etc.
- Hold CERAD L3 Emergency Driving Qualification or equivalent.
Experience
