Junior Doctor/Medical Transcriber - translating medical jargon

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for any junior doctor (between F1 and Registrar (ST6) level) to work from home - whilst aiding patients, hospital staff and police officers.

SFR Medical produces medical reports detailing the injuries sustained and the treatment received for victims of violent crimes, on behalf of UK police forces.

As a Medical Transcriber for SFR Medical, you will convert medical jargon into plain English within a supplied, templated medical report format. These medical reports will detail the injuries and treatment as documented in the patient's medical records.

Main duties of the job

You will receive electronic medical notes and a valid consent form on our software platform. You'll then transcribe the medical notes into a medical report (type the plain English version of the medical notes into a templated form).

Medical Transcriber work can earn the individual between £14 to £4000 a month (depending on the total number of specialties within the medical reports completed in the preceding calendar month). The time fulfilling this role ranges from 6 30 hours a week between individuals and is dependent on the speed of writing the medical reports.

No Medical Transcriber is given more than three medical report requests at any one time (unless they request for more and that request is approved). The turnaround time limit for each medical report is three working days (so excludes weekends and bank holidays). The turnaround time for completing the request starts when the request for the medical report is sent to a Medical Transcriber and ends when it is sent to the police officer.

Working as a Medical Transcriber can be done alongside your clinical work, research work or as a full-time role.

Training packs and videos are provided for every Medical Transcriber. All completed work is reviewed by an Report Manager before being sent to a police officer. Medical Transcribers will always have a member of the operations team to contact should they have any questions about the process or a specific medical report.

About us

SFR Medical (https://sfrmedical.com) is a social entrepreneurial MedTech start-up based in London.

SFR Medical exists to expedite the provision of medical evidence for victims of violent crime. The traditional system is slow, cumbersome, unreliable and fragmented. Experiencing such frustrations as part of the everyday workings of the NHS, our Executive Team piloted a process which formed the origins of our now efficient SFR Medical process, resulting in a 85% reduction in waiting times, increased confidence in local policing and less frustration for the hospitals. Following the great success of this pilot, SFR Medical was founded.

Since SFR Medicals inception, our team has grown, our operational processes have been enhanced and refined, our cybersecurity strengthened to the highest standards and our product offering list expanded.

However, what remains at SFR Medicals core is our vision to create a world where victims of violent crimes are supported through robust technology, compassion and accurate data. To go beyond evidence.

SFR Medical is very proud of its diversity, believes in equal opportunities and welcomes applications irrespective of age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality or religious belief.
