Job summary
We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to play an important role in complementing the Pharmacy Team and other members of the PCN multi-disciplinary team. Pharmacy Technicians work under supervision to ensure effective and efficient use of medicines. The responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician cover clinical, and technical and administrative categories.
The successful postholder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisations throughout the practice teams and promote good practice in line with therapeutic developments which will involve national requirements, NICE implementation, and utilisation of medicines optimisation initiatives.
You will be based within Byron Primary Care Network (PCN) covering:
- Whyburn Medical Practice, NG15 7JE
- Oakenhall Medical Practice, NG15 7UA
- The Om Surgery, NG15 7JP
- Torkard Hill Medical Centre, NG15 6DY
Byron PCN has a patient populating in excess of 35,000. You will be part of a wider team of Pharmacy Technicians and supported by our Clinical Lead Clinical Pharmacist who is on the PICS leadership team.
Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
- To undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use
- To support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients
- To conduct medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration
- Accredited pharmacy technician course
- Professional registration with General Pharmaceutical Council
- Evidence of continued professional development
