Job summary
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who work with and support families/carers of people living with dementia with complex needs. Admiral Nurses use a range of interventions including practical, clinical, emotional, and psychological support to help people live positively with dementia and develop skills to improve communication and maintain relationships. Hosted by PICS, this exciting new post will be based within Nottingham West Primary Care Network (PCN) which has a patient population of 30-50,000. Working within this PCN, you will cover:

Stapleford neighbourhood:
• Saxon Cross Surgery, NG9 8DA
• Hickings Lane Medical Centre, NG9 8PN
• Linden Medical Group, NG9 8DA
The role will include providing education/training, supporting the best practice of health and social care professionals, providing clinical leadership to people with dementia and their families/carers - all whilst setting-up, developing, maintaining, and evaluating a new service.
Main duties of the job
Dementia UK will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical and leadership expertise as a specialist Admiral Nurse through regular clinical supervision and practice and professional development opportunities.
You will become a welcome part of a network of Admiral Nurses and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate training and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Registered Nurse (adult/mental health/learning disability) with a passion for, and significant demonstrable track record of, providing person centred and relationship-centred dementia care with a strong sense of advocacy and equalities for this client group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To provide regular clinical sessions for families/carers who are directly affected by dementia
• To use the Admiral Nurse Assessment Framework to provide specialist nursing assessments
• To support quality improvements through audit and evaluation
KEY REQUIREMENTS
• Registered nurse (RMN/RNMH/RGN/RNLD)
• Post registration qualification/training in dementia
• Post-graduate training/education in dementia/older people
