Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about providing a high quality service.

You will be supported by a team of professionals, workingto deliver the operational management of PICS finance, forecasting and strategic goals. You will be part of the leadership team and finance committee, where you will report on monthly budgets, each quarter, trends, forecasts and annual statements.

Main duties of the job

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing accounting operations (including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Bank reconciliations, Cost Accounting, Capital Accounting and Revenue Recognition)
  • Streamlining and improving financial systems, operations and procedures/processes including keeping up to date with technological advances and accounting software to ensure fit for purpose

  • Oversight of the banking system, payments (including debit card) and internet purchasing accounts, salaries payments, NHS and other pension payments, monitoring of HMRC payments and statements

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant
  • Post graduate/finance related qualification

Job responsibilities

Job purpose:

The Finance Manager is a key position in the organisation, holding responsibility for the operational management and day to day running of the organisations finances. You will also be a pivotal member of the leadership team, supporting the delivery of PICS strategic goals, focused on ensuring the organisation delivers its financial plan, achieves sustainable growth and maintains its position as a trusted, financially stable organisation in the Nottinghamshire health and care system.

Your responsibilities are diverse and include:

  • Managing accounting operations (including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Bank reconciliations, Cost Accounting, Capital Accounting and Revenue Recognition)
  • Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported including variances to budget/plans
  • Creating monthly budget reports, quarterly reports to identify results, trends and financial forecasts and annual financial statements
  • Cash flow management and debt/debt collection
  • Oversight of the banking system, payments (including debit card) and internet purchasing accounts, salaries payments, NHS and other pension payments, monitoring of HMRC payments and statements
  • Ensure strong internal controls are in place (and adhered to) by reviewing business processes and accounting policies.
  • Streamlining and improving financial systems, operations and procedures/processes including keeping up to date with technological advances and accounting software to ensure fit for purpose
  • Supervising, managing and developing finance team staff
  • Managing the audit process and being the point of contact for auditors on any technical accounting matters
  • Contributing to company financial strategy and decision-making processes including Identifying cost reduction opportunities
  • Assisting the FD in presenting reports to managers, finance committee and board
  • Supporting the production of the annual report and accounts and other financial reports
  • Assisting with interpretation and implementation of new regulatory and reporting standards and amendments liaising with the auditors
  • Strong & demonstrable leadership skills
  • Engaging - Keen to develop and progress members of the team (with previous demonstrable experience of doing so)
  • Forward thinking/innovative/challenge the status quo
  • Providing financial training and support to managers/budget holders
  • Supporting the FD with technical accounting papers for the Finance Committee
  • Providing corporation tax and VAT planning advice with reference to current legislation and ensuring the necessary accounting and payments are completed in a timely manner

  • Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. NHS CCG, ICS, ICP, PCNS, local partners, auditors, insurers, bankers and suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and procedures

General:

  • Represent PICS at local forums as required
  • Provide support as required to the Managing Director and across the organisation including (but not limited to) on-call duties, facilities management, incident management, Sustainability and compliance with external assessments/requirements
