Main duties of the job

We are actively recruiting for a Depot manager in Canterbury to ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day resource of operation within the patient transport department by coordinating the distribution ofpatient journeys and managing the operational staff.

G4S Patient Transport Services is one of the UKs largest Non-Emergency Patient Transport providers,carrying out over 50,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across theUK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-qualitypatient transport.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of the day to day services to patients providing support for operational,clinical and make ready staff to ensure a smooth process. (Aligned to contracted expectations)
  • Ensure that productivity and efficiency is managed from the start of shift to the end of shift andcrew performance is monitored and challenged if required.
  • Work closely with and report to the Operations Manager (Ops Manager) on daily performance andhighlight any areas of concern that may affect patient experience including Safety / Service / Costs Compliance
  • Review patient feedback, highlight and feedback positive comments to appropriate colleagues,review negative feedback to look for root cause analysis, implement improvements and lessonslearnt where appropriate.
  • Monitor Vehicles and equipment to ensure always kept clean, fully maintained in line with setschedules and stocked with consumables, and any issues reported. (Audit, Spot Checks)
  • Health and safety awareness and understanding monitored by depot / contract performanceincluding risk assessments and record of improvement within depot, and support from H&SManager.
  • Be part of evening and on call rota and provide out of hours management cover as required
  • Ensure all staff are sufficiently trained for their duties and the training matrix is always up to date,including manual handling and use of equipment.
  • Maximise performance / utilization and attendance of the contract / depots under yourmanagement and undertake supervision of journeys to ensure compliance
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, supporting the Operations Manager with regular audits
  • Manage sickness absence for formal short & long term sickness meetings with employees includingreport processing and trend reviews.
  • Complaints management and investigation lessons learnt and implementation of improvementsclosely linking in with the compliance team.
  • Understand and deliver contractual and service requirements for all hospitals in line withexpectations and in a timely manner
  • Ownership for all day to day operational activity within the contracts under your control includingresourcing, shift rostering and control.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken relating to disciplinary and grievance issues and that proceduresare carried out in line with current legislation and company policies
  • Ensure that all employees receive employment development reviews (EDR) in line with companypolicy.
  • Ensure the Companys reputation for quality and service is enhanced with any customer or externalinteractions service users by maintaining proper standards in all services.
  • Promote employee engagement within the team and work with the Relationship Manager inimplementing positive engagement ideas and initiatives within each base/hospital.
  • Support, lead, motivate and monitor staff in order to develop and improve their skills, so thatcustomer expectations are continually met or exceeded.
  • To understand patients special needs and mobility to ensure their safe transport ensuring thepatients dignity and respect is maintained.
