Main duties of the job

As a Contracts manager for Patient transport Services you are asked to lead, build and inspire an effective and efficient transport service, providing the best Service User experience possible within agreed parameters of the business

Job description

Job responsibilities

What's involved:

  • Work within budget to achieve or exceed budgeted profit & revenue targets.

  • To ensure the achievement of contractual performance targets, reviewing and developing

  • future operational solutions focusing on the Service Users experience whilst travelling with PTS.

  • Ensure all staff comply with all governance and training requirements at all times.

  • Ensure available resources are fully utilised, including reducing vehicle downtime andthe management and or the non use of Third Party providers.

  • Resolve within KPI, all complaints and introduce operational improvements foundthrough key learning.

  • Review Contract / Depot performance weekly / daily and work with OperationalManagers to target areas for constant improvement.

  • Introduce, maintain and review qualitative measures such as staff and Service Usersurveys and produce learning outcomes.

  • Manage all aspects of the contract, including finance, operations, fleet and administration functions, ensuring strict cost control is maintained.

  • Management of all staff employed within the contract, with specific line management fordirect reports.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the key stakeholders and Service Usersclosely working with the Relationship Manager for regular updates and maintainingvisibility across all contract sites.

  • Attend ICB, Trust, staff, union, stakeholder or other meetings (Service User and allrelevant forums) as required.

  • Financial accountability; Identify and maximise all revenue opportunities, manageexpenditure within budget, especially management and control all third party spend;forecast potential issues that may have financial impact

  • Produce and interpret key management information; Identify relevant data requirements.identify areas for service improvement and suggest appropriate service changes,including forecast future service requirements (activity levels)

  • Respond and manage all complaints (direct or via the Trust) work with the PatientExperience Team to identify root cause and implement changes and then communicatewith the Trusts and ICB

  • Be part of evening and weekend on call rota and provide out of hours managementcover as required (this may be at short notice)

  • Management of all aspects of Health and Safety including reporting, and carrying outinvestigations. Ensure managers and staff learn from near misses and incidents and take steps to prevent recurrence. Ensuring any accidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner. Ensuring risk assessments and safe systems of work are updated and communicated to all staff as required. Ensure all staff receive all mandatory briefings, delivering these personally within your own teams as required.

  • Enable a positive culture throughout the operations under your control by supportive andengaged management style.

  • Encourage employee engagement through regular open forums with direct reports.

  • Control and proactively manage sickness absence within agreed targets.

  • Adhere to all defined staff performance policies such as PDRs, Capability or Disciplinaryprocedures/processes.

  • Responsible for ICB compliance and audit support.

  • Perform back to floor activity a minimum of twice a year
