Exciting opportunity for a forward thinking pharmacy
technician
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a skilled,
experienced and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to support our Medicines
Management Hub located at South Petherton Surgery. You will need a positive attitude and
approach towards problem solving.
Supported by our experienced team of Medicines Management
Technicians and pharmacists you will assist with a variety of tasks including
medicines reconciliation, resolving medication queries from patients and
community pharmacies, streamlining prescription processes, drug monitoring and
supporting patient safety. You will support the prescription clerks in our
repeat prescription hub, liaise with GPs, practice staff, community pharmacies
and secondary care colleagues, as well as having direct contact with patients
and carers.
The hours of work are negotiable, with applications welcome for both
full time and part-time hours.

Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
To support the practice
pharmacist and clinical teams, including:
- support
the practice pharmacist with medicines reconciliation in accordance with
practice protocols and to update patients’ medical records and
prescriptions.
- carry
out medication switches, dose optimisation and medicines synchronisation
to ensure safe and cost-effective prescribing
- initiate
repeat prescribing for appropriate patients
- provide
advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing in order to
support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost
effectiveness
- participate
in medication audits and QOF quality improvement projects
- support
practices to meet QOF indicators
- support
patient safety with high risk drug monitoring
- respond
to medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner
referring to the appropriate GP in accordance with practice protocols
- advise
on the sourcing and safe management of medicines as appropriate
- action
drug alerts
- provide
information on KPIs to show benefits of post
- To
act as a link between practice and local community and hospital pharmacy
services
