Job summary

We are looking for a Managing Director to join the team and lead the ongoing development and growth of our business, driving operational excellence and strategic development in a dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

This role is responsible for steering KFM towards achieving our business objectives, strengthening both supplier and customer relationships, and ensuring outstanding service delivery across all functions.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead KFM's senior leadership team in delivering our strategic aims, fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and sustain robust, productive relationships with key stakeholders including KCH, as customer and owner, as well as the wider NHS and other healthcare partners, to enhance service quality and value.
  • Drive operational excellence to ensure KFMs services meet customer requirements and industry standards and deliver exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring sustainability and growth in alignment with our objectives.
  • Identify and manage strategic risks, guiding KFM through an evolving healthcare sector.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience in senior leadership roles within healthcare, support services or similar sectors.
  • Proven track record of strategic and operational success in complex, regulated environments.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing large-scale budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

KFM provides fully managed services across all clinical areas which includes providing all required clinical supplies and equipment along with maintenance, training and technical support, endoscopy decontamination, sterile services, renal dialysis support, radiology systems support and outpatient pharmacy. KFM also runs a procurement and contract management service for all departments.

KFM is a Limited Liability Partnership owned by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with no private sector partners. KFM is a public authority not a private company. KFM has an annual turnover of around £185 million and over 350 staff.

  • - Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • - Evidence of postgraduate studies or experience equivalent to that of an MSc/MBA
  • - Professional management qualification

Desirable

  • - Experience in programme management practices, or qualification, would be desirable

  • - Solid experience at or near board level, taking responsibility and accountability for meeting a wide range of business and service performance targets.
  • - Successful track record of business and service delivery in a complex, customer centred environment, ideally although not exclusively within healthcare.
