Job summary

We are looking for Pharmacists to ensure that all activity undertaken is consistent with maintaining registration of the premises with GPhC.

To ensure the Medicines (Pharmacies) (Responsible Pharmacist) Regulations 2008 are adhered to at all times and ensure that the Pharmacy Record is maintained at all times.

Delivery of timely, effective and efficient clinical and technical pharmacy services in accordance with the pharmacy business plan and within available resources.

Adequate and up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures are in place as required by GPhC.

To clearly communicate and document arrangements which are to apply during the absence of the responsible pharmacist from the premises.

Prescription records are legally compliant, in accordance with GPhC guidance.

To agree, monitor and ensure the service meets key performance indicators for all aspects of the out-patient and discharge pharmacy services.

Optimal deployment and use of pharmacy staff within budgetary constraints.

Good communication between all sectors of the Trust pharmacy and with departments and directorates to whom the out-patient pharmacy service is provided.

To contribute to ensuring that there is an appropriate skill mix within the pharmacy and promote the extended roles of technicians and the appropriate use of technology, such as automation. 2.11 Contribute to the development of a customer satisfying retail offer within the available space

Main duties of the job

The pharmacy service provided is patient focused.

To manage and contribute to the development of all pharmacy staff and contribute to effective induction and performance management of an appropriately qualified and flexible team.

To provide professional leadership and advice to all pharmacy staff working for the company.

To provide clinical and professional leadership and supervision of the pharmacy team, with appropriate record keeping.

To contribute to the identification of appropriate opportunities and support for training and development of pharmacy staff and monitoring that they are acting in accordance with the Code of Ethics and requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

To contribute to appropriate processes for assessing competency of pharmacy staff.

Job responsibilities

This role supports the Pharmacy Manager and provides day to day leadership and management for all Pharmacy Services when acting as Responsible Pharmacist.

Key Accountabilities

Safe, efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of the out-patient pharmacy services at the outpatient pharmacy for Kings College Hospital London, in accordance with national and local standards.

To provide leadership to and act as a role model for the support staff of KCH outpatient pharmacy. To fulfil the statutory responsibilities as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council and DoH.

To contribute to the development of a high quality and timely outpatient service for patients. To develop an effective working relationships with prescribers.

To contribute to the development of appropriate additional clinical or patient centred services. To contribute to the optimisation and development of the overall profitability of the business.

To contribute to the efficient management and administration of the business Work collaboratively and supportively with the Superintendent Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager.

To work collaboratively and co-operatively with the pharmacy manger and other pharmacists in order to avoid or minimise the use of locum pharmacists.

To work closely and collaboratively with specialist clinical pharmacists and service leads to deliver high standards of medicines management and optimisation for the benefit of patients, carers, and medical and nursing staff.

Skills:

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

Proven ability to communicate effectively across professional boundaries

Proven ability to influence others over whom no direct management control exists Initiative and ability to prioritise effectively, good time management Keyboard skills, ability to use basic Microsoft Office applications Shows leadership, vision, enthusiasm and innovation

Qualifications:

Registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council Evidence of advanced clinical knowledge, postgraduate clinical qualification, or equivalent experience of at least 18 months Experience as a qualified pharmacist in a number of different settings and roles including temporary or day to day management. Experience of developing a business or organisation and the team, or having been part of such a new team High degree of self-motivation organise and prioritise own work and develop agreed ideas into practice.
