Job summary

KFM is looking for a passionate individual for the role of a Senior Renal Technologist. This exciting role requires a highly motivated and adaptable individual to support the expanding renal service. The service has ambitious plans for growth which could also lead to exciting progression prospects in the future. Your role as a Senior Technician Apply the learning and knowledge into practice through compliant procedures and guidance. Highlight room for improvements through established processes and constant improvement initiatives Collaborate with clinical teams to find opportunities to improve patient outcomes Support the service digitalisation program with the assistance of transformation team to unlock flexible and lean working

Main duties of the job

The lead technologist would be a member of team of 13 renal technologists who supports renal services across several sites in the south London and the north Kent area including the main Denmark Hill site, five satellite units, home dialysis program and other specialities within care group. You will be a key member of the department, working alongside stakeholders to provide a best in practice service. Our Expectations The applicant will be expected to demonstrate a strong desire to build or advance a career in renal technology and medical equipment maintenance, haemodialysis therapies and related water treatment options. Successful candidates will be sent onto relevant training courses and development A Condition The job involves the provision of an on-call service and travel to other sites. Therefore, applicant will need to hold a Full UK Manual driving license to drive company cars to carry out work related activities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The job entails providing technical support for all departments operated by the KFM Renal Services, both in the hospital and home environment, under the directions of the Lead Renal Technologists. Because of the multi-site nature of the renal department, technologist will be required to work from any of the dialysis units operated by Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be responsible for the following:

To carry out service, maintenance, repair and installation of all equipment operated by the Department, according to current approved schedules and procedures.

To identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered with equipment, and escalate appropriately where necessary

Workload is prioritised according to demand, clinical need and work list agreed with team leader.

To maintain accurate operational records of all work undertaken. This is to include computerised records and hard copies where appropriate.

Review, identify and implement procedures to maintain standards relating to equipment management and Renal Association Guidelines under the guidance of lead technologists.

Maintain close links with manufacturers, suppliers and agents to manage complex issues, parts inventory, work progress, vehicle maintenance and verification of invoices etc.

Skills:Possess a full UK (Manual) driving licence

Able to use Excel, Word etc. to set up documents and spread sheets and extract information, experience of using equipment management database or similar.

Able to use fine tools for equipment adjustment/assembly.

Able to handle medium loads within safe limits.Able to concentrate for long periods to allow accurate working

Able to deal with emotionally challenging circumstances when working in clinical areas (e.g. when visiting wards and homes fault finding on patient connected equipment).

Able to train groups of professional staff & patients in the use of medical equipment

Able to deal with complex and unpredictable situations

Able to motivate colleagues and act with confident authority when the situation requires.

Qualifications:

A degree in a relevant scientific subject e.g. Physiology, Electronics, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering OR Evidence of successful completion of approved IPEM training program for inclusion on RCT OR Extensive experience of working in renal technology
