Level 2 Property Maintenance Apprenticeship

Post: 37.5h fixed term, (approx 27 months)

Salary: Age 18 to 20 - (£16, 834.50 per annum)

Age 21 plus ( £24,321.87 per annum) B Grade

Location: Tamarind Centre 165 Yardley Green Road, Birmingham B9 5PU (May be required to support other Secure sites

Applicants must be 18 or over due to the nature of the service provision

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.

Role Purpose:

You may be handy with DIY at home or have some Trades experience but no qualifications, you may even have studied at school but have no work experience. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest, is safety conscious and wants to work towards a qualification that will give future career options, whilst gaining experience working alongside Trades/Crafts professionals.

This is a rare opportunity for a career starter or someone looking to change direction.

Main duties of the job

The Property Maintenance Apprentice will work alongside qualified Plumbers, Carpenters, Electricians etc in our Secure clinical sites whilst gaining practical skills and a qualification with a local college. The Apprentice will be able to take on their own tasks and responsibilities as they develop skills in Tiling, Carpentry & Joinery, Brickwork, Electrical and Plumbing fundamentals, Painting & Decorating, Plastering and Heating/Ventilation systems. Underpinning the hands-on skills, the Apprentice will learn the importance of adherence to the Health & Safety at Work Act and always demonstrating excellent Customer Service.

Key responsibilities

Working safely and complying with the Health & Safety at Work Act.

Communicating effectively with SSL and BSMHFT personnel as required

Assisting Trades personnel

Carrying out various tasks diligently with due care and without undue delays.

Taking accountability for work area and tools etc especially in service user areas.

Reporting issues timely to the appropriate level

Carrying out remedial or "make safe" first fix where applicable.

Supporting emergency/urgent requirements as directed.
