Age 18 to 20: £16,380 per annum
Age 21 plus: £23,054.00 per annum
SSL are a growing provider of consultancy and operational services to the Healthcare Economy, specifically the NHS and the Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) which are partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services.
A growing agenda for both SSL and our customers has been the sustainability agenda and supporting our clients with ensuring they are compliant with legislation and assisting them to work towards achieving Carbon net Zero within their organisation.
Within this role you will work across the Birmingham and Solihull area and therefore must be able to drive. No 2 days will be the same and you will find yourself needing to be able to adapt to changing prioritises and also dealing with a wide range of customers and clients from clinicians, estates and facilities employees, and colleagues at the operational forefront of delivering services to Directors who work within the Health Care economy.

SSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust who also provide specialist support on the Green Agenda for Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System. We also provide for example:

Our Degree Apprentice opportunities will dovetail our Graduate Scheme and you will be exposed to similar soft skills development training that our graduates experience.
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will support Senior Management with all aspects of our client's and SSL's waste and sustainability agenda, ensuring compliance and working towards Carbon net Zero.
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will after training support the Corporate Property and Sustainability Manager on all matters associated with Waste management across SSL and our client's sites (it is anticipated that waste in its entirety will represent circa 50% of the post).

At SSL, we work in partnership with Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT), to deliver facilities management, transport and other support services to over 50 sites across the West Midlands. The role will also support on the development and implementation of aspects of the Green Plan, working across corporate and clinical teams to improve the organisations environmental performance. Our clients have a complex and ambitious Green Plan synergistic with the Greener NHS Plan.
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will be an employee of SSL (a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSMHFT)). With BSMHFT being one of the largest Mental Health NHS trusts in the UK with over 4,000 members of staff, over 40 operational sites, including circa 700 operational beds.
This role will be pivotal to the Green Plans continuous development and implementation. The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will provide support and assistance to the Corporate Property and Sustainability Manager to achieve the aims set out in our Clients Green Plan and deliver sustainable healthcare at its very best with a personal touch.
This is a post suitable for an individual who wishes to extend specialised skills and knowledge in the field of waste management, environmental management / sustainability working for Summerhill Services Ltd (SSL)
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will work and travel across the SSLs and our Clients estate, be expected to manage their own workload overtime and support individual projects such as energy and carbon data management, sustainable and active travel initiatives, awareness campaigns, waste compliance, quality, reduction and recycling initiatives. The ability to receive, interpret and communicate complex and large data sets being critical in this role.
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will need to obtain, interpret and be comfortable working with large data sets to produce reports and develop performance management reporting systems.
The Waste and Sustainability Apprentice will work closely with corporate and operational teams to improve the collection, and support the analysis and reporting of sustainability data / information and looking for further opportunities both within and external to the organisation for driving and embedding our sustainability agenda. The ability to work with large quantities of complex data and record, interpret and report being essential for this role.
The Candidate will be required to contribute to the wider ICS and its Sustainability / Green workstreams as commensurate with the grade.
