Job summary

The Training, Leadership and Early Years Manager for SSL is a pivotal role, whereby you will be responsible for developing a Learning and Development Strategy and plan for SSL whereby a key focus is to develop the organisations, leadership and management capability, develop internal talent, and grow workforce capability through setting up an SSL Graduate Scheme and take responsibility for overseeing the SSL Apprentice Scheme programmes working in conjunction with the Operational Training Team.

You will have responsibility for producing with the Operational Training and Compliance Manager and our Operational Managers a comprehensive SSLTraining Plan, which is costed and meets business requirements.

Main duties of the job

Initial focus will be on the delivery of the following:

  • Graduate Scheme and Training
  • SSL Apprentice Scheme and Training
  • SSL Leadership Development Training and Development Strategy
  • SSL Coaching and Mentoring Scheme
  • SSL Talent Management Processes
  • New ILM System
  • Life Cycle Training and Development Processes for SSL.

The postholder whilst not directly responsible for operational training delivery, will be responsible for producing the overall training plan, costings, and through an Operational Training Meeting with the Head of Facilities, and other individuals responsible for training delivery deciding on and influencing training initiatives to be rolled out and prioritising operational training resources aligned to delivery once the initial delivery of the above objectives has been achieved.

Graduate Scheme:

  • Taking overall responsibility for set up and delivery of our Graduate Scheme programme across SSL with the Head of HR.
  • Ensure graduate resource requirements are identified on an annual basis and that business case is prepared with Head of HR for Remuneration Committee.
  • Input into the assessment of SSLs future graduates through robust assessment techniques and interviewing.
  • Ensure the effective Onboarding and Induction of all Graduates
