Specialist Nurse - SACT (Bank)

Salary: Up to 24.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
We have an opportunity for a Specialist Nurse to join their team of staff in the Oncology department.
This is a bank role working on an as and when required basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Our shifts run Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, each typically lasting 7.5 hours. We also offer flexibility if you're looking for shorter hours to better suit your schedule.
Main duties of the job
Deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care within your area of specialism, acting as a clinical expert and role model.
Support assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients with complex or long-term conditions.
Contribute to the development and implementation of care pathways and protocols based on national guidelines and best practice.
Provide education, support, and counselling to patients and families, empowering them to understand and manage their health conditions.
Act as a key contact for patients, ensuring consistent, coordinated care throughout their treatment journey.
Signpost to additional services and resources to support holistic care.
Work as part of a team on a fast paced chemotherapy unit .

Education and Staff Development
Act as a resource for education and clinical development within your specialty.
Deliver training, mentorship, and clinical supervision for nursing and support staff.

Service Development and Quality Improvement
Lead or support audits, patient feedback initiatives, and quality improvement programmes related to your specialist area.
Contribute to the review and development of policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
Monitor outcomes and use data to inform change and drive continuous improvement.
Professional Practice and Governance
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records.
Adhere to all relevant legal, regulatory, and professional frameworks, including NMC standards and organisational policies.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
Essential:
Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, or Mental Health, depending on specialty) with valid NMC registration.
Significant post-registration experience in the relevant specialty area.
Demonstrable specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills within a defined field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification or recognised specialist training in the relevant clinical area.
Non-medical prescribing qualification (if applicable to role).
Experience in audit, service improvement, or clinical leadership.
Teaching or mentorship qualification.
