Job summary

We are a new private healthcare facility providing services for both private and NHS patients.

Our services are rapidly expanding and we require an enthusiastic procurement/asset professional to join our team to ensure a cost effective and efficient service. The role will be pivotal in delivering substantial savings.

You will :-

- Take responsibility for negotiating high-value or complex tenders and contracts for goods and services, achieving the most economically advantageous outcomes for the organisation.

- Develop strategies to meet the procurement needs of specialist categories and the organisation as a whole.

- Operate effective information systems to ensure accessibility of data that adds value to decision making.

- Achieve savings targets.

- Provide procurement and supply chain services to all departments.

Main duties of the job

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced procurement professional to enhance relationships with suppliers to drive productive collaboration and effective forward planning to manage consumables and assets.

You will need to have experience working in a similar role within a hospital environment or have extensive experience as a healthcare professional in procurement or supplies.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills as the role will involve detailed, complex, confidential procurement discussions, together with relevant statutory financial and procurement regulations with both NHS and suppliers.

About us

We are a new organisation providing outpatients, endoscopy and minor procedure services. The theatres are under development but due to be operational very soon.

You will working as part of a small friendly team which is set to expand over time. Our work ethic is to all work together as a team to achieve the end goal in providing high quality patient care.

Job responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies, supporting the boards business plan.
  • To deliver against agreed annual cost reduction targets and report on action taken, taking specialist responsibility for specific Departments and product categories.
  • Develop and manage relationships with senior clinicians and managers.
  • Develop supplier relationships; negotiate with senior personnel of supplying companies, undertaking visits to supplier sites when appropriate.
  • To establish service quality standards and thereafter to ensure the effective monitoring of contract performance.
  • To ensure appropriate board and department input into the procurement decision-making process.
  • To ensure that Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders, EU Regulations and other statutory and regulatory requirements are followed, explaining legal obligations to untrained staff in other departments.
  • Conduct formal high-value tenders in line with EU Legislation.
  • Research the marketplace, giving due consideration to financial status of suppliers; ability to supply and maintain continuity of supply. Undertake product and equipment evaluations/trials and site visits as necessary.
  • Conduct detailed evaluation of tender returns, using appropriate financial assessment and purchasing and supply criteria. Ensure products and supplier meet required standards according to English and EU law.
  • Ensure that procedures are carried out in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the organisation.
  • Prepare Freedom of Information files and provide prompt responses to F.O.I. requests relating to supplies

In conjunction with the Chief Executive award contracts, providing formal de-briefings to suppliers and departments as necessary.

Prepare and update tender reports and record/report savings.

  • Record contract details on Purchase Order system
  • To monitor supplier performance and liaise with suppliers to resolve problems.
  • To ensure that all clinical or non-clinical risks issues identified are dealt with effectively from a Supplies perspective.
  • To provide detailed costing and expenditure information to the Chief Executive and Board
