Job summary
This is a trainee role on a contracted hours basis (full or part time) for a number of Emergency Care Assistants to join the team at Role 1 Medical at our bases in Redruth, Cornwall or Ivybridge, Devon. This role will provide the knowledge, skills and qualifications for applicants to become ECA's prominently working a variety of frontline shifts supporting a local NHS Foundation Trust, but may include high dependency transfers, patient transport and event cover as required. The role will be provide safe, effective pre-hospital urgent and emergency care to a range of service users, responding to emergency or urgent calls as well as referrals from healthcare professionals and inter-facility transfers.
It is essential that applicants for this role hold a category C1 driving licence.
Main duties of the job
The Emergency Care Assistant will provide effective, safe and compassionate care in a range of emergency and urgent care situations. Normally working with a senior clinician such as a Technician or Paramedic.
Role 1 Medical Emergency Care Assistants require:
Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills.
The
ability to support and work as part of a team, as well as the ability to work
independently.
Hold a Category C1 driving licence with no more than 3 points at the time of application and selection.

Pay: £19,500pa (PAYE) (plus unsocial enhancements) during training and probationary period rising to £23,400 on qualification
Contract Type: Fulltime
Hours: 37.5
hours a week on average over a 17 week reference period.
Main function of job:
To provide safe
effective ambulance patient care as part of the Role 1 Medical Ltd operational
team providing high dependency hospital transfers, Frontline A&E support and
event covers as part of an ambulance crew.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. To
deliver pre-hospital emergency care within a scope of practice defined by your
level of training in a safe and effective way making referrals to senior
healthcare professionals as required.
2. Provide
Basic Life Support autonomously including defibrillation, advanced airway
management and oxygen or delivering Advanced Life Support as part of a team.
3. To
complete accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with established
Role 1 Medical Ltd SOPs.
4. To
safely administer & record medical gases in accordance with Role 1 Medical
Ltd policy and SOPs as required for the immediate treatment of the sick and
injured.
5. To
drive Role 1 Medical Ltd vehicles in accordance with the law and complete
company driver related tasks as directed in Role 1 Medical Ltd policy or
management direction.
6. To
take responsibility for your own continuing professional development and maintain
a log of your cpd activity including annual ILS updates.
7. To
ensure you maintain the professional image associated with Role 1 Medical Ltd.
8. The
position requires the ability to travel to different event sites. Therefore,
your own transport and a willingness to travel are essential.
9. All
